Helping Elemy Take the Next Step in Steel Grating Production

Since starting in 2019, Elemy has built a strong reputation for supplying and fabricating steel grating, composite products and specialist metalwork throughout the UK.

As the business continued to grow, one piece of equipment was becoming harder to ignore. Their existing cutting machine had been in service for many years and was becoming increasingly unreliable. Parts were difficult to source, breakdowns were becoming a concern and the machine was no longer keeping pace with the direction the company wanted to go.

Elemy had ambitious plans for the steel grating side of the business and knew they needed a better way of processing material. The aim was simple: make production easier, improve efficiency and create capacity for more work.

Steel grating brings its own challenges and the best solution would be a machine designed specifically for the job.

Following site visits and discussions with our Sales team, the machine chosen was a Bomar GridCutter 1200.120 Semi-Automatic Bandsaw, complete with 5-metre Bomar roller conveyors on both the infeed and outfeed side.

Designed specifically for steel grating, the GridCutter is very different from a standard bandsaw, particularly how the material is clamped. The Grid Cutter features adjustable ‘vertical’ cylinders covering the entire width of the saw on both sides of the blade.

Combined with the conveyor system, it gives Elemy a faster and more efficient way to load, support and cut larger sections of grating, helping to reduce manual handling and keep production moving smoothly.

The installation has given Elemy a dedicated steel grating cutting solution that is reliable, efficient and built for the demands of modern production. Most importantly, it gives them the confidence to continue growing this important part of their business.
